The main objective of the Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) is to manage industrialization projects for outsourced manufacturing at suppliers, implement Life Cycle Management projects at suppliers and drive the initiation of LCM projects by suppliers. He/She ensures quality performance and compliance are according to Philips requirements written in supplier contracts and drives supplier development (continuous improvement). The SDE is the technical interface towards the suppliers working closely together with his/her commercial counterparts (Supplier Account Manager).

Job Responsibilities

• Identifies cost saving opportunities with the supplier
• Contribute to sourcing decisions identifying required supplier capability and quality level
• Creates, releases and continuously drives the improvement of tools, equipment and manufacturing processes and related Quality systems to meet the product specifications.
• Translates product requirements into process requirements safeguarded by proper process monitoring
• Identifies gaps between required and current supplier capabilities, and drives quality improvement plan / risk mitigation accordingly · Implements design and manufacturing process changes at supplier
• Leads and concludes negotiations of Quality Agreement and ensures that suppliers meet Quality Agreements
• Monitors the effectiveness of product quality control plans with
• suppliers throughout the product life cycle
• Ensures compliance of supplier to Safety regulations, Quality and
• ROHS/REACH standards on quality management process and product level
• Supports supplier audits, selection & qualification assessments ‘
• Validates (Supplier ) Quality data and Quality system performance to warrant Quality data integrity

Job Requirement 

• Degree in Engineering or related discipline in Mechanical, Mechatronics.
• Professional with >5 years proven track record in engineering in an industrial environment
• Project management experience in SW, apps and connected devices, consumer electronics is a PLUS
• In depth understanding of manufacturing processes, tooling, molding, equipment and quality systems
• In-depth knowledge of process improvements, cost optimization and LEAN manufacturing
• Expert in modern engineering methods, tools and processes
• Strong analytical skills and communication skills
• Willing to travel – about 20%
• Good command in English and Chinese
